New Year ~ Hello 2007

The Choongs invited us over to celebrate the new year with loads of good food, fun, laughs, poker and pictionary. Thanks guys!

I was inspired and decided to make cupcakes.

Lien made a yummy pandan mousse cake.

Christina cleaning the boys out at poker.

Not one to toot my own horn but Sue-Yen and I were on fire at Pictionary. We are the awesomeness! Then it progressed to charades and Christine (Dan's girlfriend) was hilarious!

~ Happy New Year ~ Let's hope it's a good one! ~

Sajith & Natashia's Wedding

On a beautiful Saturday at the end of the year, two of my beautiful friends from high school had a beautiful wedding and began their new lives as husband and wife.

Here comes to bride...

Presenting Mr & Mrs G

The reception was held at AQUA and guests could walk through the underwater tunnel bit during pre-dinner drinks. I haven't been there since I was in primary school. It was so cool and such a fitting venue for the newly weds.

Tash had recently booked Saj a swimming session with the sharks for his birthday at AQUA.

We were then escorted to the deck and entered a bubble-filled recepetion room with a gorgeous view of the sun setting behind the sea. It was such a great night with delicious food, touching speeches, catching up with high school mates and hilarity on the dancefloor. The traditional Sri Lankan wedding ceremony bit was really interesting and beautiful too.

Tash looked so beautiful and my favourite yay-high-black-guy (aka B1) scrubbed up pretty damn well too. The smile on Saj's face was priceless. When I congratulated them after the ceremony at the church, I had to hold back tears when hugging Tash. I was speechless. I was just so happy for them both. During the reception, Tash changed into a stunning turquoise sari.

"Give me some cheese!"

The end of the night was quite the tear jerker. Saj and Tash will be soon relocating to Canada and saying goodbye to their family members was pretty emotional. It was quite sad but at the same time so exciting that they were embarking on a new adventure in a new country, together as husband as wife.

Saj - You can officially give me back the golden shovel now. "Dig up! Dig up!"
Much respect sweetie.

Moonflowers

Mum's moonflowers bloomed last night.

I don't even know if that's the proper name for them but we've always called them that. They are so beautiful with such a strong, sweet, intoxicating scent.

It's a shame each flower only blooms and lasts for a night. But I guess that makes it so magical when they eventually do.

Christina & Gav's Engagement

Congratulations you guys!

We all knew it was coming (coming very soon) but it was still so exciting when I found out it had actually happened.
Gav and Christina had a lovely engagement party with close friends and family, where we heard the story of how it all happened, Gav's secret, sneaky plan involving candles and truffles made by himself, how Christina will not pass up dessert (you know it girl!) and the gorgeous ring - so pretty. All very romantic Gav - bonus points for you!

Can't wait for the big day!

Merry Christmas

I haven't spent Christmas at home for the past 3 years so it was nice to be with family and loved ones during the festive season.

My sister had dinner at her place on Christmas Eve. Their tree was so cute decorated with crafty things the boys had made.

We had roast pork, turkey, potatoes, couscous and salad. Dessert was gelato. It was definitely the most healthiest Christmas meal I've had, yet one of the tastiest.
My sister's cooking involves trying to use the most healthiest options. Organic foods, no sugar, natural flavours and low fat everything. I was surprised that most of the time, it tastes so good.

It was really cute and fun to see the boys all wide-eyed and excited to open their presents, and I just loved the hand-made card and pipe cleaner ring Callum made me.

Callum testing out the kick board we got him.

After the kids were put to bed and the others left, Andrew, Karen, Brendon and myself played Scrabble. Then we headed to mightnight mass and back to Brendon's place for "Foo cake" and present opening time.

Christmas day was spent at church followed by the traditional lunch. Then a BBQ dinner with Brendon's family. So much good food and eating! How I've missed eating cherries.

I hope your Christmases were extra special and full of yummy food, surrounded by loved ones and celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. xox
