Kaz's house

This evening I went to Kaz's house with Claire.

I met his wife Nobuko who was so lovely. She teaches yoga and is fit as! She taught Claire and I how to make gobo salad. Gobo, otherwise known as burdock is some root vegetable that I think is only consumed in Japan??

She made a delicious dinner of tofu steak and mince meat, chicken salad with sesame miso dressing, onigiri with red beans, raw onion salad with bonito flakes and 2 varieties of gobo salad.

They have a daughter who is my age studying at a Kyoto university and a son who just started university in Kobe.

It was so nice to be in a proper house and chat over tea and apple pie.
